Necroposting refers to the practice of forcibly stuffing your posting arm up the rear of a long dead thread, causing it to stutter back to life in a newly twisted and blood curdling form. Mods spend a lot of time fighting off these evil apparations, so anyone who practices necro-ing will most likely get my foot up their arse. >:(
Somewhat famously, Rob and TheOne indulged in necroposting in the summer holidays of 2005 in an attempt to liven the forums up slightly. This failed miserably, mainly because they did not mention their intentions to any moderators, who consequently tried to stop the "phantom bumpers".
Necroposting refers to posting in any thread which is considered as old or neglected, but not all moderators are against it. As long as it's done without posting spam, most of the moderators prefer it to making new threads about the same topic. However, it has been known for moderators to bump older and more interesting threads in order to create a more intelligent conversation on the forums.
