Chiki:Protection Policy

This is an official, accepted rule on Chiki. You are expected to understand and comply to it. You don't have to learn it by heart, but you should have a rough understanding of the proposals on this page. Please leave any questions of comments on this article's Talk Page.

Because of the open nature of Chiki, some pages may become the subject of vandalism. To help prevent this, prominent pages, or articles that are frequently vandalised will be protected from being editted by a SysOp. Protection will usually be temporary, and reasons for protection will be given on the article's talk page.

Notification

Pages that have been protected will either display the protected template ({{protected}}) or will have a text link to this page, if the template would be inappropriate. All protected pages displaying the template will automatically be added to Category:Protected Pages. The only exception to this rule is the Chiki main page.

Blocking

Users that frequently vandalise pages, or otherwise act to disrupt Chiki can expect to be blocked, in accordance with Chiki:Blocking Policy. This means that pages need not be protected from editing, simply because of one person's stupidity. Protection should never be used to prevent malicious editing from just one person.
