CHERUB Forums

CHERUB Forums is the official discussion messageboard site for the CHERUB Series, and is primarily run by Robert Muchamore, and two fellow administrators saxsux (founder of Chiki) and Perky. There was also previously Happychic who was an admin but retired so has become a pink shirt although the actual powers that she has through being a Pink Shirt have remained a closly guarded secret between Rob and herself. There is also an AdminX account which is the master admin account under by Rob to make changes to the forum when they cannot be made through his account. There are also a number of Deputy-Chairmen who hold some administrative powers but not as many as chairmen.

History
CHERUB Forums was founded by George Burgess around July 2004, and was initially an unofficial forum dedicated to the CHERUB books.
Following a mention in the September 2004 edition of CHERUB News (along with Hodder One), the forums grew in popularity. Robert Muchamore became an administrator on the forums.
The site originally had a navy blue colour scheme, which was arguably horrendously ugly. The site opened with the following sections: Rules and Advice, Cherub Books, Cherub Characters, News, Events, Advertising, Other Books, Screens, AORM, How These Forums Work, Even Better and also included a section for private discussion between moderators.
Since then:
- Screens broke up into TV and Movies, Computers, Consoles, & Internet and Music
- Rules and Advice, How These Forums Work and Even Better was contracted into Rules, Advice and Suggestions
- News and Events were contracted into one section called News and Events
- Advertising was merged with a new section called Links, and called Advertising and Links
- And the following were added: Sports, Cherub Wallpaper and Art, CHERUB: 'Latest Book' Spoilers Allowed, Forums Gold and Current Events & Other Serious Stuff
They have also since become official, and are linked to on the CHERUB Campus website.
In June-July 2008, amongst much controversy the following changes were made:
- Introduction of a senior board for black shirts and above.
- Introduction of Henderson Boys board for discussion of Henderson Boys ready for future release.
- Introduction of a creative category.
- Introduction of a competitions board that due to Johnos bitching was then merged with News and Events.
Current Day
Very few original members remain on the forums. George Burgess (the founder) before vanishing, gave his account to Rob who renamed it "AdminX". His account is now only used occasionally, for when Rob needs to make changes to the forum which can only be performed through the founding administrator's account. Recently however, he has visited the forums using his second account 'George' and was warmly welcomed back by fellow members.
Under Rob's administration, two members are currently the rank of Chairman (administrator) - Perky and saxsux as well as five deputy-chairmen. There are nine Mission Controllers (Global Moderators) and thirty two Instructors (Moderators), although some of these moderators no longer have boards allocated to them, and have effectively been demoted. Happychic was the first Chairman to retire and got the Pink Shirt in recognition of this.

Strangely enough, the News and Events board on CHERUB Forums is the place for novel updates on information pertaining to the CHERUB series (News) and specific details regarding things which are CHERUB-related that happen (Events). Many new people inflict their first thread upon the News and Events forum, usually with a topic that belongs on a different board or a question which is answered in the Newbies FAQ. This is a great way for the correcting moderator to break the ice while welcoming the new member to the forums. Similar happenings occur in many individual posts in the News and Events forum as well. The current moderator lineup is the wonderful kaphwan/Amzi duo, supported by a global mod sometimes when kaphwan is at university/sleeping/sleeping at university, Amzi is doing something else in her own real life and a new person is doing something inane. In Summer 2008, this board was renamed from News and Events to News, Events and Competitions due to a merge with the short-lived competitions board.

Henderson Boys: Books and Characters

Created in July 2008, this board was created prior to the release of Henderson Boys for general discussion and speculation. This board became Stuart's first board to moderate and Hesignedmyarm//Katie's after the loss of The Sleepwalker board.

All Other Random Messages (Affectionately known as AORM) is the heart and soul of CHERUB Forums. It is more popular than the other boards (Apart from shortly after a new CHERUB book has been published), and as a result, has many more topics posted in it than any other boards. The AORM board is by far the maddest board with some of the most random things posted in it. Previous random topics include: Robert Muchamore's delight when his next door neighbour's daughter was stung by a bee, the debate of Boxers or Briefs? and how toenails asked everybody how lickable Rob was. People who were perfectly sane have been admitted to a mental hospital after reading some of the stuff on AORM. Previous mods have included Happychick, Completethicko, Mortifus,Gunny, Perky, Shinabu, King Jungulan, Wearestardust, Commander Of One, A-Rod and TheOne amongst others. Many ex-mods still regard it as their baby. Some regard it as the most prestigious mod spot and are always trying to be promoted to AORM if G-Mod is out of their reach. But sometimes it is the last board on the way to becoming a G-Mod. During October 2006 when Kai was promoted to a global moderator, Perky was given AORM as a 'runner up prize'. Although this wasn't as good as Global Modship, it is, in fact, one of the last stepping stones to becoming a Global Moderator. It also made AORM's moderating team a threesome. Just under one month later, in early November, Perky got bumped up to Global Moderator and then again in late December, with the coveted Administrator spot.
Current Events and Other Serious Stuff

Current Events and Other Serious Stuff is usually abbreviated to CE&OSS, and was one of the most recent boards to be created. It was created for members to discuss issues, including news articles, with a slightly more serious frame of mind that is common on CHERUB. Over time the board has got more and more popular and is now prefered by some members to AORM. CE&OSS is home to the infamous aunt bella which recently surpassed 200 pages and a new one was needed due to proboards bugs, aunt bella has been a great help to forum members in need of advice and help with issues in their day to day lives and anyone who makes derrogotary comments rapidly have them deleted and are dealt with harshly by the modding team. The more common topics to arise are to do with religion and discrmination though there is a wide range of discussion to be found there apart from these.
Forums Gold

Forums Gold is probably the most famous board on the Forum. This is where all the best threads on the forum are placed to preserve their glory. Forums Gold is home to the best threads such as the infamous "IIOKTBG" and "Which Forum Member Would You Sleep With?" which, rather worryingly, now has 72 pages. Recently, Forums Gold has become less liked. n00bs have swarmed upon the board, knowing nothing about the threads there, and, basically, messed them up. The pages and pages of posts now contain very little other than absolute rubbish and the board is under development. Some threads have been removed from the board and put back where they belong. Some have undergone massive deletion, with mods removing many of the posts. Some have been locked or deleted. Nonetheless, Forums Gold now sucks.

Other Books is a board on CHERUB Forums that, as the name states, is devoted to the talk about books that are not related to CHERUB. This is truly one remarkable board. Even the memory of nzer being an ex-mod of Other Books can't scare the mods of this board off and they struggle on, through good times and bad.

Your Writing contains all the writing and fan-fiction from CHERUB members, the most popular story on the Your Writing board is Lessons by Operation Barbosa. The board also contains the CHERUB Fan Fiction sub-board to post stories read by forum members centered around the CHERUB world in a Fan Fiction style.

Cherub: Art and Stuff is the board that all the arty Cherub members and those members that are good with graphics can go. Once the home of the exciting What do we all look like thread, it is currently home to awesome avatars, pictures, guides to use certain pieces of software and images.It has it's own cute little sub board in which people can put their images, art pieces and computer work into a gallery.
Word Games

Word Games is a board on CHERUB Forums that is generally considered useless by most members. The members that do regularly post in it are often accused of spam and are not respected by the non-Word Games members.
Members who post in Word Games as newbies are able to gain the respect of the forum by leaving Word Games and joining more popular and useful threads such as IIOKTBG.

This board was created in July 2008 about much controversy among forum members as it was thought it will just lead to the increase of the elitist and cliche nature of CHERUB Forums. The board is only accessible by black shirts and staff members of CHERUB forums. This board was created, according to Robert Muchamore for the following reasons:
"The mod board is one of the busiest on the forum, but a lot of what's in there has nothing to do with modding, which is bloody confusing. This board can be seen by staff and members navy shirt and above. Within reason you can use it to discuss things like meet ups and other threads that aren't suitable for the main boards.".
However, just a month after the board's creation, Rob banned any discussion of meeting up anywhere on the Forum because he received a complaint from an over-protective parent.

The Mod Board is that place on the CHERUB Forums that only those chosen ones may access. It is for staff members only and used to be moderated by SilverGhost, but currently is unmodded. Lots goes on there (apparently) and according to some members, a massive orgy. While non-mods can't access it, some mods sig stuff that goes on in there and it looks pretty crazy. It used to feature Mount Doom, otherwise known as Deleted Threads, which is the board where the staff put all the rubbish threads to die but has now became a board in it's own right.

Notable events
The forums' history has been coloured with many interesting events, from the e'er mysterious root vegetables incident, to plunger rangers the official forum superheroes. Summaries of many of them can be found here on chiki, why not start with micronations?
Other notable forum events include the Putney "Divine Launch Event", in which the Divine Root Vegetables epic book cover was unveiled.
